Trick or Treating

Tonight the kids went TorT with my sister J. It's funny because yesterday they were so excited about dressing up and getting candy, and tonight, while still excited, K didn't want to wear her costume and S wasn't all that interested in it either. I guess all the costume wearing yesterday wore them out.

It was great that J wanted to bring them. I'm just not into TorT'ing anymore. I prefer the Trunk or Treats during the day in a controlled situation. I just don't get into the going door to door anymore. So unless J will come yearly and bring the munchkins out, I think the kids will just have to get used to the group events. And, right now, J is still a kid at heart and I think if she didn't take the twins, she would feel compelled to go out there herself and TorT.

Our Halloween Adventures

Our celebrating started yesterday. We attended the twin mom Trunk or Treat. It was a great event filled with fun, games, food and friendship. The twins had a great time playing the assortment of games and winning some pretty cool prizes. There was a great turn out of about 15 families and then at least twice as many kids ;o) Max had a good time watching the madness around him and thankfully was so distracted by the activity that he totally forgot about the hat on his head!
It's very cool to see the twins at these events. We have been a member now for about 3 years and the kids have made such good friends. They know the names of their friends and now realize, to an extent, how special it is to be a twin. We have done so much with this group that for awhile it was difficult for the twins to understand that not everyone came in two's :)

After the Twin TorT, we ran and attended the local mommy event. It again was a TorT but just with a different set of friends. At this event there were probably 25 cars and probably 50 or so kids. It was a little crazier and not as well organized as in the past. The twins again had fun, but this time as soon as they had their candy, they were ready to go. This event was supposed to go until 6:30p but I think we were home by 6p.

Slack A$$ Mom

I have been so slack lately and haven't gotten anything for Halloween done! Usually I am way more on the ball then this. I am the one with the moldy pumpkins on Halloween because we carved them October 1st!

Finally today we got to carving the pumpkin. The twins scooped out the 'guts' and helped with carving a little. S did great and had fun, but near the end K started to get whiny and was sent to her room, where she quickly fell asleep.

So...work the next two days and then a weekend full of Halloween fun! I will get the costumes tomorrow - a friend is making them - and then the only thing left to do is decorate the trunk of the van on Saturday morning.

Some Pictures to Share

Today was a BUSY day! I went with K and her class to a local Pumpkin Patch for her first field trip. S had his last week, but I couldn't go because I was working, so I actually pulled him out of class and took him as well. They had fun listening to stories, finding their perfect pumpkin and posing for pictures. We even picked out a big pumpkin for us to take home to carve.

It is so funny to see that many 4yo together in one big group. They all have such big personalities for their age and it's humerus, and exhausting to see them all try to express them together.
After the field trip I took the kids to gymnastics for a Halloween day. We had dropped out of gymnastics when the twins started school so it was nice to see old friends again. This of course included S's girlfriend R who was dressed up as Luigi...she made a pretty cute Luigi if you ask me!

Time to recoup for another bust day tomorrow followed by two days of work and then another busy weekend :)

I feel like there is so much to say...

But most of it is a negative rant on parenting, friends, people, policies, rules, regulations etc. So I think I will just step away and keep it to myself for now.

I will mention a few updates though. Me and my friend N who recently had some trouble were able to talk and we are working towards rebuilding our friendship. We are both extremely busy right now, so we haven't actually seen each other face to face, but we did chat, and I feel better about it.

My Scentsy business is off to an okay start. I am trying to have a fundraiser for J, my friend who I previously mentioned was adopting from Russia. I also received my order today from my party two weeks ago and currently my living room is filled with warmers and scented wax.

We are heading into a fairly busy few weeks but with some things I am looking forward to. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays now that I have kids and this is coming up this weekend. We have two Trunk or Treats and maybe will go Trick or Treating. I also have the Multiples Convention coming up which should be a semi-break for me.

I will leave you with one of the most precious things there are...a picture of a sleeping baby...enjoy!

A Very Cool Birthday Party

The kids went to a great birthday party this past weekend. It was at a local ranch. The kids were surrounded by horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. The twins had never been horseback riding before and were super excited to get on.

K went twice and seemed so content to just watch the animals. In fact a few times we had to call her away from the fence to join in the party activities. She loved to pet the horses but was unhappy with the donkey who licked her.

S liked the animals but didn't seem as impressed. He had just as much fun running around with the other kids and getting into the party food. At one point he saw on of the horse's penis sticking out and thought is was hilarious with how big it was. He spent the next few minutes running from horse to horse and letting us know whether it was a boy or girl horse.

Mookie, as usual, just hung out. He isn't very happy lately with all those teeth trying to come in. He is pretty fussy, drooly and keeps that hand in his mouth. He also got a chance 'ride' the horse.

Overall it was a good day and now K wants her party there next year. I told her that might be a bit difficult since her birthday was in February, but we will talk about it then.

Frustration

I am steaming hot right now. So pissed that I could spit fire.

I actually had a FB "friend" send me a message tonight that if my news feeds were going to continue being about Scentsy, that she would have to de-friend me. WTF?

First off, I did post about Scentsy last week, when my party was open, to try and increase sales for my consultant. This was before I joined. In fact, since I joined I have posted one post...to announce my new endeavour, and about 4 or 5 posts about the kids. Is this a little much, perhaps, but this friend could easily have ignored my posts. I wasn't posting them to her, or sending them to her. They were my thoughts at that time that I shared with my 400+ friends.

Friends post things everyday which I don't agree with, things that offend me, views and opinions that I do not share. But you know what, those are theirs to post. It is their FB page and their right to post whatever they feel at that moment. If I don't like it I can ignore it, block it, or even defriend them, but it is absolutely not my place to send them a message to tell them to alter who they are. Obviously there are people out there who feel the need to control others. Well honey, you are on FB. There are no rules. There is no control. If you don't like it...crawl back into your hole and defriend me. I won't change for you...and I won't change for anyone else.

Tooth!!

At 10 months, 1 week and 1 day Max finally broke his first tooth. You can barely see it but when you look REAAALLLYYY closely you can see it on the bottom right. I think the left one will be out by the end of the week. Honestly though, at this point you can feel them more than see them.
This will be an interesting month as Max also has 4 very hard white lumps on the top of his gums...anyone want to venture at how many teeth little man will have by the end of October??

Just a Little Plug....

I have a good friend that is currently trying to adopt a special needs boy from Russia. In Russia, once kids turn 5 they are removed from the orphanage and placed in an institution to live out their life. J is trying desperately to save one such boy.

Here is a link to her page where she is trying to raise money to bring him home. If you can, please visit.

Sweet Rewards :)

Last Saturday I had a Scentsy Party for a friend. I honestly thought I would sell a few hundred dollars and earn myself a warmer and some scents. Well, amazingly enough I sold $1145 worth of stuff :0) This was great because it got me some great rewards, but I also was working to help this friend make a business challenge for the month of October.

For my rewards I received...
4 Mid Size Warmer Kits - All teacher gifts :)
1 Mid Size Nursery Kit - For M's room
1 Scent Buddy - for M's stocking
1 Large Warmer Kit - Living room
1 Large Warmer Kit - My Bedroom
6 Pack of Bars

I only paid about $60 out of pocket for everything...Nice eh :)

Now the only thing this doesn't help is I was thinking of selling it before this party. Now with this success, several people wanting to do parties and several ore saying they want to order more, I am very tempted. I know it would never bring in any real money...but it could be fun :0)

S Really Needs to QUIT Saying That

In the last 6 to 8 weeks, S has told numerous people that I am pregnant. He tells them that I have a baby girl in my tummy. He must be pretty convincing as on Monday when I picked him up from school his teacher said "S told me your good news...you're expecting" Um...no.

I asked him why he was saying that and his response is "Cause I want a baby in your belly". I told him how he shouldn't say it any more and how he was confusing people. He seemed to understand, but today at pick up his teacher mentioned that he told someone else I was pregnant. And tonight without any prodding he said "Mommy, I really want a baby. We need a baby sister". It must be something he thinks about a lot with as much as he talks about it.

He has been an awesome big brother and I'm sure he really does want a sister, but of course there is so much more to consider. At least I know that if I decide to adopt next year he will be on board.

I didn't even realize it until today. Max turned 10 months on 10-10-10. I wish I had realized it on the day and we would have had some sort of celebration. Pretty cool!

Another Woe is Me Post

I think I am going to have to try to figure out a way to be happy without friends. It seems like the more I try, or the more I focus on it, the more I get hurt. The day actually started well. I had a product party for a friend and had 6 or 7 friends over with great conversation and great company. I actually had a pretty good time.

Well as people were leaving, I heard two of the friends talk about a party one was having. It kind of caught me off guard because I thought that I would be someone that D would invite if she was having a party, but I tried to brush it off. After all I can't expect to be invited to everything.

Well tonight while surfing on FB I found that one of my friends had a BIG party last night. Under her comment, many of our mutual friends posted about what a great time they had. Ouch. This one hurt. What is it about me that makes it so hard to be to be part of the crowd. Why do I consistently get left out. Sigh...another night of feeling sorry for myself.

I really need to figure out a way to get out of this funk.

Not Sure What to Do

N sent me a message today saying that we needed to talk. Um...yah...thats what I said...10 days ago. I really didn't know what to say. In the last 10 days I have gone from sad and depressed that this friend was mad at me, to angry that she would completely ignore my pleas to talk and decide to throw away the friendship for something so stupid.

I sent a message back saying that I did want to talk, but that talking would have been much more effective last week and that I was also hurt with the way she ignored me. It's also a bad time to get together because next week is crazy and there isn't a lot of time available to get together.

I don't know. Part of me just wants to walk away, but that is how I usually handle things. This friendship loss really did hurt me as I was pretty depressed about it, and I had several dreams about her last week. I really should at least make an attempt to talk it out and see what happens from there. I guess I shouldn't give up so easily...but that might be easier.

Mommy With a Fever + Sick Baby x Energetic Twins = One Grumpy Mama

It seems like this house just can't get healthy. I don't know if it's just a bad year, or the fact that the twins are now in school and bringing everything home. But it SUCKS. The twins and Max seemed to stay sick most of September with a runny nose and cough. It seemed to go away a week or two ago, then M was vomiting all day Saturday and now most of us are sick again.

I have a sore throat and this afternoon had a low grade fever and body aches. I was able to get some rest off and on, but mostly just kept popping the Ibuprofen and continued on.

N is also sick. She has pretty much been in bed for two days. She says she has a sore throat and stays cold. I literally have gone into her room a few times just to make sure she's breathing.

Mookie is pretty miserable. He has a constant, nasty runny nose. I am constantly cleaning his nose and the poor thing now has little open sores on the outside of his nose. He starts to panic every time he sees me grab the Kleenex. He also has 6 hard, white bumps on his gums. So, in addition to being sick, I believe that in a matter of days he will go from zero to six teeth. I have also kept a steady stream of Ibuprofen in him.

Surprisingly the twins seem fine. A little cough or sneeze here and there but overall seem healthy. Hopefully they will stay that way because at least while they're at school I can get a little peace and quiet while the baby and I sleep.

Poor Mookie

This Saturday I had to work all day (BOO) so my Mom came and spent the night Friday. Early Saturday I woke M up to feed him but he didn't seem interested. I brought him into my Mom while I dressed for work. A few minutes later my mom was calling me saying M was throwing up. My job isn't the kind where I can just call in and tell them I'm not coming, so unfortunately for my mom, she was stuck with a sick baby all day. I hated leaving him, but didn't have much of a choice :0(

He vomited most of the day. A few times he went just long enough to give us hope that he was over it, but only to end the reprieve with a huge 'surprise'. Even once it required both M and Grandma to get into the bath. By the time I got home at 8pm, he seemed a little better and hadn't vomited for an hour or two. I nursed him to bed, although he really didn't eat anything, and surprisingly slept through the night.

I was beyond happy today when M woke up and everything seemed fine. He nursed like a champ this morning when he woke up, and then again 2 hours later. He ate his breakfast and has been in a great mood. I think whatever he had was only a 24 hour thing and he is better. The only unknown now is how many other people in the house will show up sick this week.

Catching Up with an Old Friend

In 2004 I met a very cool guy and his wife. He had been diagnosed with leukemia and became a patient of mine. He and I connected right away and I pretty much became his nurse whenever he was there. Despite the fact that he was in the hospital for cancer treatment, we made it fun. I shaved his hair into a Mohawk and died it purple; more than once he doused me with silly string as I walked in to check on him; once he lost all his hair we gave him the nickname 'Uncle Fester'. Obviously not all patients would receive this treatment (LOL) but he wouldn't have it any other way. He had a hard fight but about a year later was cancer free. After his 'cure' he, his wife and I would meet for dinner every few months to catch up on things. Although he was old enough to be my dad, he became a good friend.

In 2007 he relapsed. His leukemia came back, and this time could not be fought. He tried chemo, a transplant, everything. It didn't work. He died in February of 2008. The world lost a great guy that day.

Every so often his wife and I meet for dinner. Tonight was such a night. It had been forever since I had seen her. With being pregnant last year and then the insanity of this year, we let time slip by. She looked good. She still gets quiet when she talks about him. You can see how much she misses him. This was both their second marriages. He had two girls from his previous marriage who she loved to death and thankfully she is still very involved with them. They each have a son, so she enjoys being a grandparent to them. I wanted to ask her if she had started dating, but the time never seemed right. For the most part she seemed happy, but a sadness does creep over her every so often.

I'm glad the twins were in good, friendly moods as they spoke and played with her. M was a little fussy but overall did well. We definitely need to meet up again soon.

***When I was naming M, his middle name was going to be Carter after my lost friend, but since S's middle name is also after someone who had passed I decided to use another name. After last night, a remembering my lost friend, I really regret not going with my first choice and naming him Max Carter. ***

October

I love October.

It means that the cooler temperatures are on the way.

It brings yummy foods like pumpkin, soups, chili and the all important Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream by Ben & Jerry's.

It is the kick-off to the holiday season of Halloween, Thanksgiving and of course Christmas.

I am so happy it's here!
