February 2013

Of course the big event in February is the twins birthday! S and K turned 7 this February!!  The day of their birthday stunk :0( S had a horrible ear infection with high fever and K had an ear infection which caused her ear drum to perforate. They were both pretty miserable but perked up for a bit for a little party at home. Luckily they felt much better by the time their big party came. They had a party at a bounce house with all their friends from school.
All the medications the twins (and M had something too) needed to take for two weeks. It was a nightmare keeping up with all of it!

On their birthday. They both look a little ill, but they're troopers!

December always brings lots of fun and activities. Of course the biggest event in December is the Mook's birthday! I couldn't believe that my little baby turned three! He had a lot of fun and it was his first birthday where he had a pretty good idea of what was going on. He had his birthday at Chik-fil-A with several of his friends with a Spongebob theme.

Christmas was also exciting for the kids. This year instead of many smaller gifts, I went with one bigger gift for all of them. I was VERY tired of fighting for control of my iPhone and iPad so each of them received a Kindle Fire for Christmas. I would like to say that the gifts kept them from my devices, but sadly, it didn't :0(

Happy Birthday!!!.....Part 3...or maybe even 4

Today was two special days. I celebrated my 30 something birthday and we had the twins birthday party!

The day started with my parents coming over with lunch and cake. We casually ate at home and really just hung out for a few hours - honestly a perfect way to spend the afternoon. In the evening it was time to celebrate S and K's 6th birthday with all our friends! I rented out a local roller rink and ordered pizza for dinner. About 30 kids were invited and about 28 were supposed to come.
Well, mother nature decided to be a pain in the ass. All winter we have had mild and above average temperatures. Yesterday, infact, it was warm enough to go out in short sleeves and play outside without feeling even a little cold. Today, it was 30 some degrees and by 5pm (the start of the party) heavy sleet was coming down. Unfortunately, some kids didn't come because of this. We still had a good showing, but it was very frustrating that the one day I had something really important plan...winter decides to show up :0/

Anyway, the party was very nice. One friend made some really cute birthday shirts and another one made an amazing cake. The kids all seemed to have fun and they got some cute gifts.

And I'll include and picture of our 'storm'. And just because Mother Nature needed to screw with me a little more...it was 60 degrees today and all the snow is gone. Grrrrrrr

Happy Birthday!!

Today my first babies turn six. I am in disbelief. I am in denial.

When they woke up each got hugs and kisses. I told them both Happy Birthday to my BIG kids and K responded with "I am the same size I was yesterday" They went off to school very excited that they could share their day with their friends. I went back to the school at 12:30p to help celebrate a little with pudding cups and drinks.
When they got home, two more presents had been left at the door from a special friend. S got a Kinex Dinosaur and K got a cotton candy maker. She has been asking for one for over a year (I couldn't find one last year for her birthday). We had just enough time to open these, and some clothes from mom - I know...boring! - before heading to dinner. They chose their favorite place to eat and after dinner we spurlged and went to Cold Stone for dessert.
It was a good day. Not too much activity, but a nice time spent together doing special family things.

Par-tay Number One

My parents came over today to celebrate the twins birthday. They just arrived home yesterday from Mexico - if your keeping track they were there 3 weeks!

The kids were not only excited to celebrate their birthday, but they had missed their grandma and pop-pop very much and couldn't wait to see them. Me...I was most excited about giving them their dog back ;0)
S received more Lego sets and some clothes. I have spent a lot of time impressing upon him the importance of keeping up with the Lego. They are not cheap and I have made it clear to S that he needs to start caring for his toys. I am hoping he 'listened' and I will see a change in him. I really think Lego is perfect for him, but I will not be wasting money on it.
K received some clothes and some My Little Pony stuff. The best gift?? A little girls bra. You should have seen the smile on her face when she opened the gift. At first, she saw Dora the Explorer on it and tossed it to the side. When my mom explained what it was, she was smitten. She has worn it all day, and has said she wants to wear it every day. Not sure what I'm going to do with that girl.

Tonight was M's second birthday party. We had a great time. I was worried that people wouldn't come being so close to the holiday's but we had 17 kids there! I think everyone had a great time.
We did the Bubble Guppies theme, which is M's favorite TV show. I had someone make the cake decorations and we just color coordinated the plates and such because there is no 'commercial' items available...yet, I'm sure.
We even had an NFL player come to the party. Right now J is dating him and he came to play with the kids. The funniest part of that was the other parents reactions. Many of them were fans and made googly eyes at him, but no one would talk to him! It was too funny to see some grown men act that way.

A Baby is Two

How did that happen? I really feel like I just gave birth to him. I don't understand it, but I guess I need to accept it.

M is a toddler in every sense. He is high energy, risk taking, stubborn, feisty, independent and in charge of everything. He is more work than the twins were at that age. He is also funny, loving, empathetic and charming. He makes me laugh every day and can charm himself out of any situation. His speech is coming along very well. He was reevaluated a few weeks ago and he is actually on the low end of normal now.

We had his family birthday on his actual birthday - his party will be a few days later - but it was coincidentally on the same day as our twin club holiday party, which explains why they are still wearing those PJ's ;)

Final Celebration of the Week

Tonight we got to celebrate my birthday and went out to dinner and came home to cake :) My parents, who had been in Mexico the last 2 weeks, came home yesterday and came by to get their dog. Since the whole family was here, we decided to celebrate together. We all went out to dinner and then came home and had some cake. It was a nice end to a pretty good weekend.

Back to reality tomorrow. I have to work :0(

Shopping Spree ;0)

The twins have been saving up all the money they have been receiving for their birthday. S, who is huge into Imaginext, has wanted some more of the bigger sets and K, well we are never quite sure what she wants at any given time.

They both received a total of $65 so they were able to go on quite the little spree. S got the police robot he had been wanting, two space aliens and then another robot, who was apparently a bad guy.
K wanted 2 Barbies. One was a Ken. This is funny because K has Barbies at home, but rarely plays with them. Today when we got home, she played with them for hours. She told me that she couldn't play with them, without the 'Daddy'. Strange...but totally ok. Infact I am a little excited because I was a HUGE Barbie fan and if she turns into one, I can live vicariously through her!

She also got the Wii game Just Dance 2 which is a lot of fun.

I think both kids did really well and you could tell that they both enjoyed being able to shop with their own money.

Happy Birthday to Me!

LOL, yep. Another birthday. It seems as though this house goes through quite a gift giving run. M's birthday in December, Christmas, then the twins and I in February.

Of course, now that I have kids my birthday isn't really anything special. No big parties or gifts. We had planned on going out to dinner, but even that didn't pan out because I had a headache and didn't feel like dealing with the Saturday night dinner rush...maybe tomorrow :0)

Birthday Party Time!

Another great party! We had the twins 5th birthday party at the same location as M. It's a great location and on Friday evening a great price. The theme was Monsters and I once again bought cupcake toppers and decorated the cupcakes myself. I think the twins and all their friends had a good time.

I can't believe another year is gone...

5 Years Ago Today....

I was granted the only true wish I ever had in life....being a mother. At 1:01p and 1:03p S and K made their appearance into the world.

It has been the most wonderful/rewarding/loving/happy/special/awesome/energetic/chaotic/stressful/worrisome/tiring thing ever and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I really think that my only purpose, my only desire and the one thing I do right more than wrong is being a mom. I can't imagine life any other way.

I was given the most amazing gift of these two beautiful beings five years ago. I work hard to continue to be worthy of them. To do right by them. To help them grow into the amazing people I know they have within them.

Happy Birthday S and K! Mommy loves you!!!

Birthday Party!

What a great and busy day the 10th was. My little baby turned one and seemed to know the day was about him. First thing this morning he got his present from me...a Cozy Coupe Car. He LOVED it. Even sat in it while I was trying to put it together. He spent most of the day climbing in and out of it and even decided to watch some TV in it. It's toooooo cute!

In the afternoon we celebrated M's birthday with family and friends at the local Children's Museum. It was a great turn out with Grandma, the twins, and many family friends. There were 13 children there and everyone seemed to have a great time.

The theme was 'Barnyard' and I think I did a good job with it. My friend A, who makes many of the kids personalized tee's, made M a 1st Birthday shirt. I got some cute balloons of the net and matched them to the plates. I was even able to get some great cup cake toppers of Etsy.com and make my own cupcakes.

Of course M loved the pizza and cup cakes. He ate about half a piece of pizza and then ate all the icing off his cupcake.

It really was a great day with wonderful celebration. He got several great toys and a huge pile of new clothes! He will be one very well dressed and warm boy this winter :0)

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Today I turned 30! The big 3-0. The point in my life that I am expected to freak out about getting old and leaving behind my youth. Funny thing is, I couldn't care less. I have a theory that the people who freak out about turning 30 the most are those who are not sure what they want out of life. Those who made goals that are un-met. Or those whose life just isn't where they want it to be. I, thankfully, am not one of those people.

Don't get me wrong. There are plenty of things in my life I need to/want to change. But overall I have everything I could want. I have three beautiful, healthy children. I have a career of almost 10 years. I have great friends and family and a beautiful home. All of these things far outweigh any negatives in my life and for that I am grateful and not worried about turning 30.

Another bit of good news. I had my appointment with my neurologist yesterday. He is super happy that I have not had any further symptoms or flares since my diagnosis of MS 2 years ago. Usually even those who have controlled MS still have 2-3 flares per year. We also decided not to do an MRI since I was doing so well. I do need to stay very vigilant about possible symptoms though since I am still in my high risk 4-6 month post partem period for a severe flare. If I do start having symptoms I am to start steroids right away as a treatment. I am hopeful that I will be fine.
Tonight for my birthday the twins had a play date with our twin group. So for my birthday I got to spend the night with 50 twins and their siblings at a local bounce house and then enjoy a pizza party. To make up for it, tomorrow night my parents will take me out to a favorite restaurant for dinner and then come home to a delish Cold Stone Cake.
Here is a pic of the twins with their new shirts that my good friend Jenn sent for them, for their birthday. They were a big hit at the twin play date!
